The story I want to share with you begins far before the actual festival.
As you may or may not read my previous travel log about the Yoga and Tantra day, where I’ve been to both Oxford’s and London’s Tara Yoga Centres and discovered the meaning of being a tantra practitioner <- this is how I found out about the Tantra Festival, happening very soon in London.

On the Monday morning, 7th of August,
after having a breakfast together with my friend, Emil,
we started our journey to his home town – Murnau.

I am really grateful for having such an amazing and skilful partner and guide for my first hitch-hiking experience. 

Pinakothek der Moderne – München

Contemporary Art & Design group from Hochschule Augsburg, with our tutor Angela Opel organised a trip to München to see Pinakotek der Moderne – the biggest museum of modern Art in Germany.

After buying the Bayern Tickets,
the University would reimburse the cost of travel.
Since we were 11 travellers, we split up in 3 groups.
I was in a group 5 and there were another 2 groups of 3.

Wednesday’s Creative Labs

During this class we got small notebooks where we had to make fast sketches from the images selected and projected by our tutor Jürgen Hefele. The time limit and method was setted by him as well. It was a great exercise. Even if at the begging I wasn’t very sure about what I am doing because of lack of various materials to draw with (I was using a thick black marker given by my tutor and a pen that I had with me). 

… – left hand – technical – lines only – look 1 minute, draw from memory – as many details as you can – same image less details, in 3 minutes – same image in 1 minute – very quick sketch – draw with closed eyes – …

First day at Hochschule Augsburg

Semester Start
at Hochschule Augsburg

Wednesday, 15th of March was our first day of University studies.
The schedule for the International Design Students was two Creative Labs of our choice.
Most of my classmates went to the one that was recommended for us: “Illustration Boot Camp”.

I, instead, have chosen to go to Manual Printing since it involved learning and practising new techniques. The time-plan showed that it was supposed to be in the morning, starting at 9:50, but the classroom was occupied by another workshop. While I was running around searching for the tutor, I ran several times into a professor of Visual Communication. He was very helpful and suggested to join his Creative Lab. 🙂

First Meeting – Faculty of Design Hochschule Augsburg

 

We got introduced to the choices we have to pick for our projects, creative labs and other classes.

There was a person that got my attention specifically. I have no explanation for the reason it happened, just his presence made me tremble and I found a strong motivation to guarantee my attendance at the University 😀 .

Because I didn’t actually introduce myself nor asked that person for his name – the situation got even more mysterious and intriguing.
