Manual Printing Creative Lab
We started our class with viewing our final results of the CyanoType LAB.
In the early morning I got introduced to an awesome huge vintage shop called “Contact” by Carolin, an amazing friend from the Manual Printing Creative Lab.
The purpose of the trip was to get some textile scraps and different pieces of fabrics to later experiment with.
The place is simply a treasure “cave” for an artist!
You can get anything you can imagine there: from tiny pendants to huge items of furniture.
Augsburg is world famous for its string puppet theatre.
The SWAP team from Hochschule Augsburg organised tickets at a great price: 9,70 €
The play was called ‘Tischlein deck dich‘ (The Wishing-table) of Grimms’ Fairy Tales. ~ 90 min
The play started at 4 in the afternoon but I got there later because of my Cyano – experiments on textiles at Manual Printing Creative Lab. Continue reading
Contemporary Art & Design group from Hochschule Augsburg, with our tutor Angela Opel organised a trip to München to see Pinakotek der Moderne – the biggest museum of modern Art in Germany.
After buying the Bayern Tickets,
the University would reimburse the cost of travel.
Since we were 11 travellers, we split up in 3 groups.
I was in a group 5 and there were another 2 groups of 3.
During this class we got small notebooks where we had to make fast sketches from the images selected and projected by our tutor Jürgen Hefele. The time limit and method was setted by him as well. It was a great exercise. Even if at the begging I wasn’t very sure about what I am doing because of lack of various materials to draw with (I was using a thick black marker given by my tutor and a pen that I had with me).
… – left hand – technical – lines only – look 1 minute, draw from memory – as many details as you can – same image less details, in 3 minutes – same image in 1 minute – very quick sketch – draw with closed eyes – …
On 18th of March there was organised Hochschule Semester Opening Party. I felt more comfortable sitting at home and was sure that I won’t go out that night.
That was until, by pure coincidence I wrote to my friend from Manual Printing Creative Lab, Anna, asking about our homework.
The temptation to change my plans and actually go out that night was growing, as she was convincing me to join her and her best friend to a Gothic Party. Continue reading
The Project Introduction started at 8:00 on the 16th of March.
We were presented the three major companies that we will collaborate with during our course:
♡ – Decide what you want to say.
♡ – KNOW THE FACTS!
♡ – Research and stick with the facts.
Wednesday, 15th of March was our first day of University studies.
The schedule for the International Design Students was two Creative Labs of our choice.
Most of my classmates went to the one that was recommended for us: “Illustration Boot Camp”.
I, instead, have chosen to go to Manual Printing since it involved learning and practising new techniques. The time-plan showed that it was supposed to be in the morning, starting at 9:50, but the classroom was occupied by another workshop. While I was running around searching for the tutor, I ran several times into a professor of Visual Communication. He was very helpful and suggested to join his Creative Lab. 🙂 Continue reading
